"I had an awesome experience with the Divine Travels tour to the Kumbha Mela. It was definitely an experience of a lifetime."--Deborah, hairdesigner, Ohio.
"My experience with Susan Shumsky and Divine Travels (to the Maha Kumbh Mela festival in India January 2001) was truly excellent. Everything was well organized, accommodation and meals were very good, and it was possible to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience that would have been extremely difficult to arrange through any other company. Guiding a diverse group of Westerners through a festival attended by close to 100 million people was a difficult challenge but the Divine Travels staff managed it with great efficiency, patience and kindness. Above all, I was impressed by their constant dedication and concern for the welfare of those on the trip."--Paul Lowe, author, England.
"The tour was very well organized. I was very comfortable and felt really protected amongst 30 million people at the Mela. I felt very included and appreciated by the tour leaders and guides. I traveled alone, but felt welcomed! The accommodations, transportation, and food were remarkably high-end. Our dinner out as a group was one of bonding and excellent food."--Tour participant.
"It was a not to be missed, life expanding experience. We had special audiences with powerful spiritual leaders, witnessed unique ceremonies, met gurus that we could only have had access to through Rajiv, our tour guide. We were very comfortable, safe, and secure. We were very well taken care of by kind and delightful guides. Highly recommended."--Barbara, artist, NYC.
"I have taken the Kumba Mela tour with Susan Shumsky and I feel it was the best tour tour I have ever taken. The tour was extremely well planned, which in a country like India is quite important, but also had the ability to be flexible, intimate and to respond to everyones needs. Susan's experience and knowledge of India is extremely valuable and the tour company used in India is of the highest caliber. I myself am planning to take additional tours with Susan in the future and would recommend her without any hesitation."--Dr. Randy Meltzer.
"It has been a year since I toured India for the Kumbh Mela tour. I think every day I mention to someone something about that experience. I feel so lucky to do this tour with Divine Travels/ Mystical Journeys, because of their ability to organize a trip taking care of all the logistics, making sure our food and water are safe so we don't get sick, but still covering a lot of territory, being flexible, and adventurous. This is not your typical coach riding tour. You get in the heart of the culture, and get in to do things that the average independent traveler could never do. I went on this tour by myself, made many friends, and consider it a life changing experience with nothing but positive things to say. I highly recommend Divine Travels/ Mystical Journeys to guide you so you can relax and focus on the spirit of India."--Angel F., Bellevue, WA.
"Bathing in the Ganges River on the most auspicious day of the Maha Kumbha Mela was like basking in nectar. My consciousness was lifted and my perceptions awakened. Kumbh Mela was the most deeply moving experience of my life. There is no expression in our language to describe it adequately."--Tour participant.
"At the Maha Kumbh Mela, I communed with God, which I saw as everything contained within myself. It was the awareness of my path and expanded freedom that brought me to tears of joy. There exists no words to fully explain the depth of that communion. I know only liberation and the utmost kindness was totally re-enforced.--Deborah, hairdesigner, Ohio.

Grah Pravesh Muhurata 2018
We all wish that the forces of evil become confused on the way to your house. Grah Pravesh is a ceremony performed on the occasion of one's first entry into a new house. This is a very important occasion for any family as home is where your entire world is. Once the house is ready, the family moves in on an auspicious day that is determined by the astrological charts. Purity of panchang (almanac) and auspicious time (muhurat) must be considered during the Grah Pravesh. This is so because it is believed that the new acquisition is susceptible to evil forces and jealousy and therefore various 'safeguard' ceremonies must be performed. This ceremony aims to appease the gods and planets so that the owner of the house is blessed with good fortune. The Grah Pravesh Muhurata 2018 list given below is a small way of saying we care.

19 January Thursday Anuradha
28 January Saturday Uttara Bhadra

Chitragupta Puja Pooja Aarti Katha in Hindi चित्रगुप्त पूजा कथा Chitragupta Bhagwan Katha Prayer

According to Hinduism, Brahma is the creator of the universe. He has created plants, animals, sea, mountains and the human being. Mythology states that humans created from the 'mouth' portion of Brahma were Brahmins, those from arms were 'Kshatriyas', those from the thighs were 'Vaishyas' and those from the feet were 'Shudras'. He asked 'Surya' to take care and protect the universe and himself went into deep meditation for ten thousand of years.

Thereafter when he opened his eyes he saw an illustrious man with broad shoulders, eyes like a lotus, long neck and carrying a pen and inkpot in the hands. Brahma asked that man who he was. The man replied that he was born out of Brahma and asked to give him a name and allocate duties. Brahma told him that as he was born out of his body (kaya) he would be classed as 'Kayastha' and he would be called by the name of 'Chitragupt' on the earth. He was asked by Brahma to perform his duties of keeping an account of every person good and bad deeds in the offices of Dharma Raj, supposed to be situated in 'Yampuri'.

Chitragupta was also blessed to produce his progency. Thus as the story goes 'Chitragupta' was the progenitor of us, the Kayasthas, and it is therefore our duty to worship him and offer our Prayers.

Hindu Mythology believes that the entire world, that was created by Lord Bramha, the Creator. Lord Bramha first created 16 Sons from various parts of his own body. Shree Chitraguptjee, his 17th creation, is believed to be the creation from Lord Bramha's belly. Thus, Shree Chitraguptjee is the divine incarnation in human form. Called Kayastha since he is the only one created in entirety [Kaya] from the Lord Bramha's body.

There is a legend behind worshipping Lord Chitragupta. Shree Chitraguptjee is the divine incarnation in human form and is called Kayastha for the reason of being the only one created in entirety from the Lord Bramha’s body.

People of the Kayastha community offer puja to Lord Chitragupt for world peace, justice, knowledge and literacy. These are the four primary virtues depicted by the form of Shree Chitraguptjee.

This is also called Dawaat (Inkpot) puja. The books and pen are worshipped on this occasion. This symbolizes that study is very important in the life of a Kayastha. The Duty Of Chitragupt Ji Maharaj Hindu Dharam is based on a multiple phase life cycle involving re-birth. It is believed that those who do not attain a balance between their good-deeds and misdoing, have to attain re-birth in any living form , to complete the life cycle.

It is also described in this regard that Lord Brahma gave the ruling of death to Yamaraja. Yamaraja was often confused where to send a particular human being, to hell or heaven. He requested Lord Bramha for someone to assit him and Bramha created Chitragupta holding inkpot and book to keep track of every person’s good and bad deed and report to Yamaraj.

The primary duty awarded to Shree Chitraguptjee is to create log of the lives of all living beings, judge their lives based on good-deeds and misdoing, and decide, upon ones death, whether they will attain Nirvana, ie, the completion of their life cycle & redemption from all worldly troubles or, receive punishment for their misdoing in another life form.

Chitragupta Puja, also known as Dawat Puja, is a ritual observed during Diwali festival. Chitragupta Puja 2010 date is November 7. It is celebrated on Bhai Dooj, two days after Diwali, in North India. Chitragupta Pooja marks the birthday or Jayanthi of Chitragupta and it is mainly celebrated by Katyastha caste.

As per Hinduism, our Maharshi or Rushis divided our time into four Mahayugas – Kruta Yugam, Treta Yugam, Dwapara Yugam, and Kali Yugam. ‘Yuga Pramanam’ is the time duration of a Mahayugam. The below given statistics describe the Yuga Pramanam of each Mahayuga.
  • Kruta Yuga – 17,28,000 years
  • Treta Yuga – 12,96,000 years
  • Dwapara Yugam – 8,64,000 years
  • Kali Yuga – 4,32,000 years
Our great Vedas state that there would be a Sandhi (gap) between each Yuga which is known as Yuga Sandhi. During this, every living thing will be destroyed and the evolution process restarts after the Yuga Sandhi. Our Earth may exist for more than 4,26,902 years as per the calculation above. Definitely, the Earth will be doomed one day but not December 21, 2012. The Dooms Day of the Earth may not come before next 4 Lakh and odd years.

Sri Butte Veerabhadra Daivagna, renowned astrologer and Panchanga Kartha based at Andhra Pradesh, states: “We cannot deny the possibilities of natural disasters in and the surrounding places of Mayans on December 21, 2012, but the day will not be the Dooms Day for the Earth”. Sri Butte Veerabhadra Daivagna is the famous Jyotish based at Rajahmundry and he is the Asthana Jyothish for Srisailam Bramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple in Andhra Pradesh. He is also honored with many national and international awards related to Hindu Astrology.
